Hospitality and Welcoming Committee

The Hospitality & Welcoming Committee is a team of people willing to provide hospitality services for parish meetings/events when needed. This team's tasks also include welcoming new parishioners by phone contact, personal meeting, and quarterly gatherings. Volunteers are needed to join the committee to help with these tasks.

Usher and Mass Greeters

At each Mass a minimum of four ushers are needed to guide and assist parishioners to open seats, take up the collection, and direct parishioners during Holy Communion. The ushers also perform the greeter ministry at all of the entrances to church, offering a handshake and a smile to those who enter. The ushers also pass out bulletins, straighten the church after Mass, turn off the lights and close the doors after the last Mass of the day. Men and women, as well as youth (8th grade and above) are needed to be ushers at the weekend Masses.

Funeral Dinners

Funeral dinners are provided by the Altar Society for the family and friends of a deceased parishioner. The Altar Society relies on parishioners to assist them with the setup, serving, clean up, or baking a dessert.

Coffee and Donuts

The Men’s Club sponsors Coffee and Donuts in Bishops Hall every Sunday (except holiday weekends) after the 6:30am and 9:00am Masses. Families, Couples, Singles, or Organizations are needed to host (set up, serve and clean up) the event.

Babysitting: Parish Nursery

The church nursery is open during the 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday Masses throughout the year, including the summer. The nursery is open on holidays. Any known closure will be posted in the bulletin the week before. The nursery enables parents to concentrate on the liturgy of the Mass, while their children (infant - pre-K) are in a safe and caring environment. The nursery is accessed through the tunnel in Bishops Hall. Volunteers are needed to care for the children during these Masses. All volunteers must be VIRTUS trained.

Babysitting During Parish Events

Parish babysitting is offered as a free service for the parents of Blessed Sacrament Parish, to enable them to attend parish and school functions. Young adults are needed to offer this valuable service. The young adults are also available for paid babysitting services for events not related Blessed Sacrament.

Receptions

Receptions are hosted at Blessed Sacrament for a variety of reasons including, weddings, welcoming new priests and other special events. Volunteers are needed to assist the reception coordinator by providing manpower for set up, serving and clean up.

Men's Club

Men’s Club strives to promote fellowship among the adult men of the Blessed Sacrament while providing opportunities for members to enhance their spiritual lives and to share the success of their stewardship with the church, school and community in the name of Christ. General Meetings are held monthly, the third Thursday of the month beginning at 8:00pm in Bishops Hall with dinner and refreshments provided.

Daughters of Isabella

The Daughters of Isabella is an international fraternal organization that was founded in 1897 in New Haven, Connecticut as an auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus. Attention is directed toward the development and growth of spiritual, social, charitable, patriotic, and physical aspects of members' lives.

The Daughters of Isabella is open to Catholic women age 16 and over. Meetings are held at 7:00pm on the second Monday of every month (excluding July and August) in the St. Pius X room at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Members pay annual dues.

Altar Society

Altar Society exists to enhance worship at Blessed Sacrament Church by devoting time, talent, and treasure to create an altar and sanctuary that bespeaks the glory of God, and to promote friendship and fellowship among all women of the parish. General Meetings are held monthly, the second Tuesday of the month beginning at 7:00pm. The meetings gather women of the parish together for a evening of social interaction, a light dinner, and a time for business of the Altar Society to be discussed. Meeting are hosted by members of the group and announcements in the bulletin will reveal the theme or social activity.

The Altar Society raises money to purchase supplies for the altar. These supplies include vestments, flowers, communion bread and wine, candles, and any other needs that may arise.
