1^st Graders drew an Easter Egg in Paint!  They were gorgeous creations, but more importantly, the students practiced their attention and listening skills during the instruction and demo time to learn valuable skills. I was so proud of them!  Next time they will get to pick their own colors and designs.

2^nd Graders explored the Faith First website (faithfirst.com). We went on a virtual church tour together and discussed parts of the church.  Next, we will see what kind of games this website offers us.

3rd and 4th graders are using the Kansas Assessment practice software and reinforcing test taking strategies in preparation for the Math Assessments in April.

5^th graders are back at typing drills and learning how to take timed typing tests.  They are noticing improvement, especially when the test is preceded by speed drills.  Parents, it is very important that your 5^th, soon to be 6^th graders, practice regularly now and over the summer.   The minimum typing speed should be 15 wpm.  25 wpm is required to be in the 5^th grade Typing Hall of Fame.  I have provided links to typing practice websites in the Keyboarding Binder in Glamann Live Binders, the button to the right of this message.

I can’t believe we are in 2nd Quarter already!

With Common Core Standards requiring more student writing (typing) and Kapaun Mt-Carmel raising their minimum typing speed expectations excellent typing skills are a MUST!

Please encourage your students to continually improve their typing skills and provide a time for regular practice at home.  Once good habits are acquired, no later than mid-5^th grade year, typing classroom assignments is a great way to practice.
