Big Changes in Learning Strategies

We have made several fun and exciting changes in our room this year.  Our message center is now a net of tropical fish. Bright colored clothes pins are used to attach items for our students .  The monkey tree is almost finished.  Each time one of our students gets an A on a test he or she can hang a monkey.  We plan to start hanging monkeys next week and the kids are so excited. 12 monkeys in the tree earns a popcorn party and 24 monkeys a banana split party.

The back room has been converted into a quiet room.  Blessed Sacrament Alum Paul Patton, who is working on his "Eagle Scout" crafted 2 sets of study carrels and they are beautiful.  They are perfect for reducing distractions while students are completing assignments and taking tests.  We are currently working to make a "reading retreat" in the back room as well.  A place for our students to read, relax and recharge for the rest of their day.  We're hoping this will be an incentive to read.  We are thrilled about the changes in our room and hope the students are as well.
