The ministry of altar servers is open to girls and boys in grades fourth through eighth. Initial training consists of two 1½-hour sessions and all newly trained servers are scheduled for the 6:30am and 8:00am Masses, and are then gradually included in schedule for the other Masses.
A Mass Captain (MC) is a high school male altar server that works very closely with the presiding priest ensuring that his needs at the altar are met and that the other altar servers are performing their duties properly.
Lectors are trained lay ministers who prepare and read the Sacred Scripture aloud at weekend and holy day Masses. Lectors are scheduled on a rotating basis and may serve ten to fifteen times a year. In addition to their initial training, lectors may participate in re-trainings and catechetical updates once or twice a year.
The Adult Choir is open to all parishioners who wish to share their musical talent and interest in liturgical celebration. The Adult Choir sings at the 11:00am Sunday Mass from Labor Day through the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ and other special liturgies throughout the year. Rehearsals are held each Wednesday evening in the choir loft from 7:00-8:00 pm and at 10:30am every Sunday morning. Blessed Sacrament also has a five-octave set of over 60 brass Schulmerich hand bells, which are used for special liturgies. Anyone interested in music ministry at Blessed Sacrament is welcome to join.
The Youth Choir is open to students in grades fourth thru eighth. They sing on the first and third Sunday of each month and on special occasions throughout the year. The Youth Choir is a good opportunity for students to learn stewardship through participation in the liturgy of the Mass. No auditions are necessary, however regular attendance at Tuesday rehearsals and Sunday morning Masses is essential and expected. Practices are on Tuesdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
Perpetual Adoration began at Blessed Sacrament in 1983, under the direction of Father Beberle. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, except Good Friday through Holy Saturday. The chapel is open to everyone, any time of day, for any length of time, but someone must be with our Eucharistic Lord at all times. Individuals and families can commit to one hour each week on an ongoing basis, or two or more families/persons may share an hour if a weekly commitment is not possible. Names can also be added to the substitute list.
The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a ceremony that takes place in the home of a parishioner to consecrate their home and family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Under the leadership of a priest or designated layperson, pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary are placed in the home and the family is guided to say a special prayer of consecration.
Because the Blessed Virgin is the one who has loved Jesus Christ most, she is the Mother of perfect love, and it is to her that we should address ourselves in order to be inflamed with that love. For this reason, a statue of the Blessed Mother is also placed in the home for a week and the family is encouraged to say the rosary as a group to ask Mary to inflame their hearts with a love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
All parishioners are encouraged to have their homes and families consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
