This year’s stewardship renewal poster is both a silhouette of a young man on his phone and a silhouette of Saint Peter with his fishing nets. Peter has chosen to follow Jesus; but the young man is distracted. Distractions are everywhere in our society today. What is distracting us from following Jesus? Who are you following? Stewardship is gratefully recognizing and receiving this invitation to follow Jesus, and then sharing our life with others, just like Peter.
"Who are you following?” That is the theme of this year’s stewardship renewal. This question relates to the one Jesus asks in today’s Gospel: Who do people say that the Son of Man is? I bet most of us would say that we are following Jesus. But who do you say that Jesus is? How do you know Jesus loves you? Stewardship requires that we know, love, and serve God. Before we can love or serve Him, we must first know Him. Discovering Christ is a seven-week experience where anyone and everyone is invited to get to know Jesus Christ. Some of the weekly topics include: “Why does Jesus Matter?”, “What Does Jesus Want Us to Know?”. Discovering Christ starts this Wednesday, August 30th at 6:00 PM in the Bishops Hall.
