At each Mass at least six ushers are needed to guide and assist parishioners to their seats, take up the collection, and direct parishioners during Holy Communion. The ushers greet and offer a smile to all those who enter the church. In addition, the ushers pass out bulletins, straighten the church after Mass, turn off the lights, and close the doors after the last Mass of the day. Men and women, as well as youth (grades 8-12) are needed to be ushers at the weekend Masses. Kapaun, Bishop Carroll, and Blessed Sacrament students can earn parish service hours through this ministry (1/2 hour for each Mass ushered). Adults must be Virtus trained.

VIRTUS
VIRTUS® is a program designed to provide safe environments for children and for vulnerable adults within religious organizations. Adults who volunteer in any ministry involving children, as well as all personnel of the parish and school, must be VIRTUS trained. Training occurs throughout the year at various locations in the diocese and semi-annually at Blessed Sacrament. Go to www.virtus.org to learn dates, times, and locations of upcoming training sessions.
